Classic Beatlemaniacs not only memorized the words to all the latest Beatles releases heard first over the radio, but we also took our own poetic license to write songs, poetry and rhymes about the group. Some poems were passed around at school, while others were bravely sent in to fan magazines. One way to bond was to sing or chant the familiar rhymes that were popular at the time.
We luv you Rin-GO
Oh yes we dooo
We luv you Rin-GO
And well be trueee
When youre not near to us
Were BLUE
Oh, Rin-GO
We luv youuu
Yeah Yeah Yeah Ye-ah
(In the following three choruses, John, Paul and George each had a turn as objects of adoration.)
This familiar rhyme was set to music, and I recall groups of fans sing-songing it to pass the time while waiting in line. It may have been while we were standing in the hot sun to purchase tickets to a Beatle film premiere.
